Recap of the 2023 Archives Trip

Armed with the knowledge and established process from the 2022 trip, the Institute’s VP of Marketing, Catherine Foster, and her husband completed a second trip and digitized 9,078 pages of hand-written notes, letters, documents, and other papers.

In the spirit of continuing to make Hartman’s work accessible, Catherine also prepared a video walkthrough of what the experience is like to visit the Archives as a researcher and shares more about the mission of this preservation work.

Among the over 9,000 pages of scanned material, this set of boxes included:

  • Extensive correspondence on axiology and profit sharing
  • Letters written between Hartman and Wanda Nekrasz (a young Polish Auschwitz survivor who Hartman met in Sweden and later brought to Wooster College)
  • Nationwide Insurance-related consulting work and writings from Hartman
  • Biographical Information, Certificates, and Documents, including Hartman’s original report cards from grade school and university
  • Promotional material for Hartman’s many speaking engagements
  • Teaching and lecture material ranging from 1969-1974

We’d be remiss not to recognize this preservation work was started from the 2018 legacy of former RSHI board VP of Research Clifford G. Hurst and two undergraduate research students who started this effort.
