Session Description

In the contemporary knowledge society, the issue of which virtues the modern-day workforce needs to possess is of crucial significance. This session specifies the virtues laid out in the management theory of Peter Drucker (1909-2005), the intellectual father of Modern management theory, focusing upon the conceptual category of the knowledge worker as the primary unit of the contemporary information and innovation-based knowledge society. Prudence, effectiveness, excellence, integrity, and truthfulness as the knowledge worker’s intellectual virtues, whereas practical wisdom, responsibility, cooperation, and courage are seen to constitute the knowledge worker’s moral character.

Key Takeaways

  • To specify the virtues laid out in the management theory of Peter Drucker (1909-2005), the intellectual father of modern management theory, focusing upon the conceptual category of the knowledge worker as the primary unit of the contemporary information and innovation-based knowledge society.
  • Prudence, effectiveness, excellence, integrity, and truthfulness as the knowledge worker’s intellectual virtues; whereas practical wisdom, responsibility, cooperation, and courage are seen to constitute the knowledge worker’s moral character.
  • The functions of knowledge workers are grounded in a strong and well-defined ethical and anthropological framework. These functions arise from the need to achieve effectiveness and competitiveness in organizations and in society as a whole. These functions are specialized, covering both the individual and social spheres.

Session Description

In many HVPs we see a low level of attention and clearity on self-esteem - the inner world of HVP on the intrinsic level. While discussing such a HVP clients often reply: "What can I do to strengthen my focus on self-esteem?" This session gives a brief introduction into the concept of “Impathy“ - the empathy with oneself or the introversive side of empathy. Impathy can be described as a capacity for recovering and sustaining mental health and well being. Impathy comprises four core dimensions: Internal Attention, Meta-Position, Accepting Attitude, Understanding and Impathic Reaction. Impathy is a new field within psychology. The findings presented in this session are based on a recently written Ph.D. thesis by Stefanie Neubrand (2021), University of Basel, Switzerland.

Key Takeaways

  • What can I do to strengthen my - and my client’s - focus on self-esteem?
  • Understand the concept of "Impathy“ with oneself and that it is a basic principle of great - good - leaders.
  • Learn how Impathy correlates to recovering and sustaining mental health and well-being.

Session Description

Join this practical application session to learn how to incorporate all three dimensions of value science to facilitate optimal team collaboration. This session will address many issues that prevent optimal collaboration and how to overcome them. In addition, you will get to practice some collaborative processes that will ensure you capture the diverse processing styles of individual team members collaboratively by utilizing several facilitation techniques.  If you want to learn some new facilitation methods while we also brainstorm more ways to grow the applications of Hartman's work, come enjoy this hands-on breakout session.

Key Takeaways

  • Understand how areas of value science overlap the Integral model of facilitation and how this helps break down the core areas that can lead to better team collaboration.
  • Discover a couple of facilitation techniques (S) you can use to ensure you capture everyone's intrinsic ideas (I) and work them together to create solutions large than the individuals contributing (E).
  • We will use the technique to gather solutions for "How to revive Hartman's work in a modern world?" This activity will generate some amazing solutions for the institute and anyone wanting to use Hartman's work to expand their business!

Key Takeaways

  • Hartman’s definition of value (Value = Meaning) defines value as a “human activity”. In today’s advancements in information theory, entropy, and Wolframs “A New kind of Science” there is reason to think that value is a part of nature itself. Hence the reference that “Value = Information”.
  • The glaring problems with Hartman’s use of cardinal numbers as a definition of “types of value” can now be replaced with a new paradigm which is “Dimensionality.”
  • Value is a cosmic activity and human activity is simply a part of this greater whole and not some special “magic”.

Session Description

Like most business leaders, do you struggle with improving "people productivity" and sales results? The world of selling is more complex today and post pandemic, seller burnout is at an all time-high. According to recent research (Gartner) one of the best ways to re-motivate selling teams is through personal/professional development. Having spent 20 years in medical sales and 10 years in corporate sales training/speaking, I know firsthand that one area often missed in traditional sales training is how to build resilience, mental toughness, confidence, and courage. Oftentimes, the 'motivation' is saved for the keynote speaker at the end of the national sales meeting. An alternative is to build confidence at the start of the training process, and to make the training process inclusive of 'thought habits:' The science of Axiology and the 'Habitfinder' assessment and curriculum. In this session, I will share how sales results and team behavior excel through training teams on successful thought habits. This session is for leaders who are looking to understand how the science of Axiology can be applied to:

  • Improve your sales win rates through thought habits
  • Keep your sales team motivated and productive
  • Arming teams to be be productive instead of burned out
  • The most common sales mistakes - and how to avoid them through Axiology.

Key Takeaways

  • Educate the audience on the concept that sales performance excellence is comprised of ‘mindset’ the inner game and ‘tactics’ the outer game. In my 20 years being a frontline seller and 10 years in corporate sales training, I have experienced that there is a need to build resilience, and ‘successful thought habits,’ for high-performing sales and leadership teams.
  • I will share (case studies) and how I have used the Habitfinder (axiology-based assessment) to perform a ‘Team DNA’ report – a summary of the teams thought habit report data in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the sales and leadership teams thought habits. This will drive team culture, accountability, and a positive team morale.
  • Then, with this data, how to prepare, teach, and implement this concept to drive leadership and team productivity and performance. Given the ‘great resignation,’ and ‘seller drag’ (post pandemic ‘behavior responses and trends’ from Gartner), improving morale, positivity, and productivity.

Session Description

Our practical application of the HVP includes uses in hiring, on-boarding, performance management, people development, and succession planning. During the past 13 years, we’ve coached and developed hundreds of people using the HVP as a baseline measurement and followed up with HVP following our programs to measure impacts. This session will highlight four of the many lives we've impacted using the HVP. Our session will include:

  • video testimonials from the participants,
  • a review of the HVP application in coaching,
  • comparisons of the participants’ early profiles compared to current results, and
  • discussion on HVP usage across the employee life cycle.

We believe the HVP is the most important tool in our business. We utilize it with every organization we support. Our customers’ success has been impacted by the use of the HVP.

Key Takeaways

  • Increase self-awareness through the HVP
  • Recognize how to use the HVP to improve your mindset
  • Live a more fulfilling life!

Session Description

This session will encompass "The Axiological Order of Things." How I use axiology to bring businesses and individuals into axiological order, which in business is "people first, useful things second, and systems third." In our individual lives, it's "me first, what I do second, and where I'm going third."

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding why "*you*" should be the most important person you know.
  • Understanding why "*what we do*" must be *secondary* to who we are.
  • Understanding why the "*future*" is an illusion that can rob us of current opportunities.

Session Description

We found five significant correlations in a Hispanic sample population N= 101, between the value judgments measured with the Hartman Values Inventory and the Executive Functions measured with the BRIEF A. With these findings and based on the value processing model proposed by Hartman, we empirically show how values are high-performance cognitive processes. Our study is empirical evidence of Hartman's claim about the science of value

Session Description

Robert and Catherine have been pioneering the digitization efforts of Robert Hartman's archives. With over 14,000 pages of documents already digitized, they will share highlights, insights, discoveries, and curiosities found within this collection. They will also share how the board plans to make these digital records available for members who want to enhance their understanding of Hartman, Axiology, and the Hartman Value Profile.

Key Takeaways

  • Discover the full breadth of Dr. Hartman's work yet to be made public.
  • Get to know Dr. Hartman as the entire person behind formal axiology
  • See snippets of early conversations developing the HVP

Session Description

Our coaches and consultants apply Hartman's work to their practices, but few apply it to their sales and marketing. In my presentation, I'll break down the steps that can be used (in all three dimensions of value) to lead more clients to say YES to the products and services that they offer to their clients. We'll use the RISE acronym to Reach, Inspire, Serve, and then Enroll or Engage more clients to bring greater value to the world around us.

Key Takeaways

  • How to construct your offers
  • How to craft your marketing messages
  • How to create your “buyer’s journey” using all 3 dimensions of value

Session Description

In the 50 years since Hartman's death, thanks to efforts of members of the Institute, we have learned much more about Hartman's thoughts and writings and have developed new knowledge about the theory and applications of formal axiology. But there remains so much more that we do not know! In this session, I will review significant contributions made to the field by members of the Institute since its founding and I will point out a number of Hartman's ideas that remain to be explored.

Key Takeaways:

  • Expand your perspective of the scope of Hartman’s work. Hint: it’s a lot more than just the assessment.
  • Learn about (or be prompted to remember) key resources about Hartman’s work and writings that have been made available through the efforts of the Institute since its founding.
  • Think about and discuss new directions of Hartman’s thoughts and ideas that remain to be explored and applied.
